Hospital Project
Parirenyatwa Hospital is one of the main government hospitals in the capitol city of Harare. For some people, it is their best hope to receive medical attention, but from an over-crowded emergency room, to being severely understaffed, to running out of water, it seems to be the hospital itself that is in need of major medical attention.

Small Changes...
Few people in Zimbabwe have access to private hospitals and health care. When it comes to government facilities, Pari Group of Hospitals boast of being the "largest and most sophisticated [public] hospital complex in the country".
Most of the buildings were built before the 1980's - many of the facilities have not been properly maintenanced or renovated since. Since Renewal Fellowship got involved in 2021 we have been working step by step to try and make effective changes to better this medical complex. Starting with the Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Ward.
When we began our involvement, we were astonished at the overwhelming need. We decided to start small by landscaping the overgrown neglected front entrance. A volunteer team from Renewal Fellowship Church came in on a Saturday morning and worked wonders. Under the watchful eye of our very own Aunty Louiza, the beautiful garden is being artfully maintained and thriving.
Borehole Well...
A hospital without water?!
In October of 2021, shortly after we'd begun working with the Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Ward at Pari, we were alerted that the entire maternity ward was out of water. The pipes that connected the ward to municipal water had rusted out, and the borehole had run dry. The hospital staff were using buckets of cold water, carting them from room to room, doing the best they could.
With the help of the church, outside support, and God's ever present goodness and provision, we were able to restore the water supply in just a few days. The borehole is still providing water for the Maternity Ward today!!
Air Conditioners...
Shortly after our first two projects were complete, the hospital staff approached us with a problem. The maternity ward was losing a staggering amount of premature babies every year to hypothermia. The Neonatal unit did not have a way to keep them warm enough in the winter season. Without sufficient air conditioners, heaters, or forced air in the room these little ones were really struggling and the mortality rate was high.
Thanks to some generous donors, Renewal Fellowship was able to install 2 air-conditioning units in the neonatal room.
One year later, sitting in a meeting with the medical and administrative staff of the Hospital, we were blessed to hear from them, “We have never had a partner like you guys who come when they say they are going to come and do what they say they are going to do.” To God be the glory!
The highlight of this meeting was to hear that the mortality rate for the Kangaroo Unit went down to ZERO for 2022 since we had installed the AC units the past year. Never had that been the case! Literally lives were saved by your generosity and God’s grace! May His name be made famous!!!
